| Review | Back in ... er ..1997 I think, Eliza appeared on the main stage at Glastonbury with Billy Bragg, to sing "If I had a hammer". After hammering in the morning, evening, and all over the site, this tribute album to Woody Guthrie was released.
The album is essentially Billy with Wilco - a band from the States, and Eliza, Corey Harris & a few other people guest on it. Liza plays fiddle on "Way over Yonder in the Minor Key", and the laid back "California Stars". The album gives a deep and vivid insight of the left-wing songwriter in the middle of last century. Billys album is a very cleverly selected set of tunes with really cool music beind them, and Lizas involvement (though small) is effective. | |
