| Review | RELEASE DATE IMMINANT! Eliza & Martin Green traditional album
Well, the album's not quite available yet by other means than buying at a Gig, but I've managed to get a copy so I'm going to bask in the glory and get your proverbial Juices flowing for your 'Dinner'.
Which it is - but to me it's more "'Liza and Martin going like buggery". Dinner is an excellent album - it really is. Highs and lows, slow ballads & ridiculously fast hornpipes that defy logic and many laws of physics (normal fingers can't move that fast), and a spot on set of Artwork by their mate Sarah Roberts - Dinner is a CD that stands on it's own. It is released on 'Liza's own Brand Spanking New label (Heroes of Edible Music), and lets us into a world of their creation, with mad timings, flying fingers, lots of fish & chickens (it makes sense when you've seen the artwork), and sampling. Lemady is the only vocal track, which Liza, Saul and Martin had created, back when they were touring together (with lyrical assistants from the Parents Carthy), & all the other tracks are instrumental. If you've seen Liza and Martin live in the past few years when they've done a few tunes together, then this album is for you. And evan if you haven't, sell your organs and buy it anyway. It's stormin'. | |
