| Review | A Dark light was released by Waterson:Carthy in mid 2002, amidst all the many other released that were happening (Blue Murder, Dinner, Angelicana etc). It features a slightly shifted line-up ; Saul has hung up his melodeon for the moment to do parenting things & poke pills in a white coat for a bit. So, step forth Tim Van Eyken.
If you've ventured into the folds of Waterson:Carthy before, you will obviously have a handle on what to expect - hand picked songs, picked for a reason. As before, Martin has written very comprehensive sleeve notes, and to try to re-write what he's said would be to muddy the waters. Expect history, lots of new arrangements of songs and tunes, and another offering to spend an age pouring over! | |
