| Review | I found this whilst idly perusing the chart CD's in Tescos the other day, looking for Xmas presents for people.
The Album covers a massive range of genra, and features songs from a while ago too - it includes a version of "Shutting the Doors" by Kirsty MacColl recorded in 1983. Of course, all the tracks are re-worked with Jools' big band in mind, which makes it a little .... different, when it comes to Liza.
The listing infers that Jools wrote the music and Liza arranged the vocal line (it's reworked from a 17th Century Poem by Francis Davison). Because it's worked out for a bigger "sound", it's possible to believe that this track could have belonged on "Angels and Cigarettes" rather than on a traditional album.
Quite a nice tune, the photo that they've used isn't the most flattering, but a good tune for a good album. |
