Nu Routes gigs

Nu Routes is four tours promoting young and unknown performers along with more established acts. Eliza is one of these such "established" acts, and there's five dates that she's doing with Eleanor Waterson (youngest daughter of the highly renowned "Uncle" Mike Waterson". They're going to be doing some family songs and other traditional material too. Make sure you can catch them ... dates on the gig page. For more info about the "Nu Routes" project, click here to see Adastra's page plugging it.

Old News

Eliza recently guested at the Kirsty McColl tribute gig - click here to listen to the BBC6 webcast!

Liza has been working with Mark Radcliffe at the Cambridge Folk Festival, for BBC4. This is a major new thing for Liza, and we've now got an opportunity of spotting her on TV! For the lucky ones out there who caught it, did you spot Martin (Green) doing a bit of moonlighting? I managed to spot him playing his stuff on stage with the Be Good Tanyas, as well as helping out in the workshops with Brian McNeill & Eliza. Keep an eye out for repeats.

Updated band list & Album listings

We've been working with 'Liza to try to remember just who she's worked with over the years ... and there have been a lot!  Not forgetting that next year is 'Liza's 10th year of professional status - we're working to try to make a half-decent database of people that she's worked with. So far we're up to about 20 albums and around 50 other artists!!! If you navigate to the 'Members' page by the link on the left (it's the picture of Liza, under the picture of Liza, above the other picture of Liza and near the picture with some colours in it which may contain Liza.

We're working too to get some streaming media, video footage (courtesy of Ms Carthy herself), a few background images, winamp skins and other such lovely things available for download. Not forgetting of course the message boards and mailing lists (see the contact page) -welcome to our community! Of course, any offers of info, rumours, suspicous lies or bribery with the digestive biscuit pack (I'll not evan mention Jaffa Cakes) will be welcomed with open arms!

Liza on Jools Holland

Uk fans - keep an eye out for Liza on the Jools Holland's Spring Hootenanny show, BBC2, Saturday 3rd May, 11pm ish. Apparantly it includes a version of "Willow Tree" with the Big Band too! One for all the family. It's on for 95 mins though, so remember to get the munchies in.

Not enough Dinner?

Unofficial sources say that Martin Green recently refused Dinner at the House of Carthy. Readers are urged to keep an eye out for a waif-like feller in a battered courdroy suit, slowly being crushed by an Accordian.

2003 World domination plans

'Liza's got big & cheerful plans for the next year ... so get your diaries at the ready:

There's a potential of an Anglicana follow up late Autumn next year also - more details when we get 'em. Also, if we get praying to the right Gods, then there's a pie in the sky possibility of 'Liza doing some work with Johns S & B.
ALSO, there's a likely hood of the "Eliza Carthy and "We're all Scumbags" / "BJs" / "Spanners" contemporary line up, which may well feature the 2 Johns as well as the normal faces.
Check about the place for new clips & bits too ... I've added a few new webcasts and links for people.

Feel like playing with yourself?

Hot off the grapevine is a new section for all you budding fiddle players out there!  'Liza is busy penning tunes for us at the mo, with some constructive words (put bow A onto fiddle B etc). After we get Xmas out of the way, hopefully we'll get some manuscripts up for you!
